Karen Shragg

Karen Shragg

Karen loves to write and see her works in the hand of young people so that they may be inspired by her characters and stories.  A naturalist by trade, she manages Wood Lake Nature Center, a 150-acre oasis located in Richfield near the Twin Cities, Minnesota’s largest metropolitan area.

Karen has authored several books for children about nature and wild animals, including the fun and fascinating Nature’s Yucky! Gross Stuff That Helps Nature Work series.  Karen’s recent children’s books reflect her passion towards promoting understanding and common ground between all people. She is the author of Lucy’s Hero: Remembering Paul Wellstone.

Karen loves sharing stories about young bright girls: she believes that women and young girls everywhere need to read about and be inspired by strong willed and smart girls who are out to make the world a better place. Karen believes that books should have a well thought out message in them that inspires a good story and teaches her writing method for up and coming writers in and around the Twin Cities.
