The Ely Summer Times was established in 1995 as a small magazine with articles about the Ely area, its people, and history. The magazine became popular enough to add a winter edition in 1997. Today's editions include a comprehensive calendar of public events; guides to restaurants, galleries, and spiritual gatherings; maps of the area; and other information of local interest. The magazine is funded by local advertisers and is distributed free at most Ely businesses and in neighboring towns. Subscriptions are available for out-of-town readers at $8/year.
